Clarkstown South H.S. Senior Wins National Silver Medal In Art Award

WEST NYACK, N.Y. -- A senior at Clarkstown South High School has been named a National Silver Medal in Art winner in the 2016 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, according to the school district.

Barbara Letizia was presented the award by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. She also has been invited to a ceremony at Carnegie Hall on June 2 and asked to participate in a series of student showcase events.

According to the school district, Letizia's work was selected by creative professionals as among the most accomplished in the country.

More than 320,000 works were entered into this year's competition, but less than 1 percent were recognized at the national level.
