Recently in the media there have been reports about lead detection in school water supplies. The District engaged the company Louis Berger and Associates, P.C. to conduct lead testing in all three school buildings.

Here is a link to the report that details the findings of the testing: http://www.chufsd.org/Assets/Building_and_Grounds_Documents/Final_Report-Croton_District-Wide_Water_Testing_for_Lead-5-13-16.pdf?t=635992673166600000

The overall findings of the report indicate we do not have a major issue with lead in the water of district schools.

The report makes some specific recommendations, which includes establishing a flushing program as a routine measure as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency for all school districts.

We are also taking immediate steps to re-route two water fountain lines and an ice machine line as a safety measure.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please email the co-chairs of the District Health and Safety Committee: Paul Gibbons (Paul.Gibbons@chufsd.org) or Thomas Cunningham (Thomas.Cunningham@chufsd.org).
