Pelham High School Celebrates Class Of 2016

PELHAM, N.Y. -- Pelham Memorial High School's class of 2016 held its graduation on Saturday, June 25.

Seniors Matthew O'Neil and Sabrina Maggiore addressed their classmates with the "Liberating, Exciting and Strange" and "Azucar" speeches, respectively. The speeches were selected among other submissions by a panel of faculty and staff. 

Candice Ripoll, president of the Council of the PTAs, presented the Fairclough Awards to Una Corbett (first place), Alice Xue (second place) and Sinead Joyce-Farley (third place). The Fairclough Awards recognize academic excellence.

Board of Education President Lisa Kiernan presented Richard Davidian with the Thomas B. Felton Award, which recognizes community members for outstanding service to the district.

Schools Superintendent Peter Giarrizzo presented Una Corbett and Brady Tuttle with the Memorial Tablet. Two graduates each year receive the Memorial Tablet for epitomizing the school's values as determined by faculty and staff. 

Charles Rhyner led the school's band as it played a processional while the graduating students entered, followed by the American Legion Post 50's Color Guard. Senior Sarah Liddy sang the national anthem.

The band also played a recessional as the students exited as a class for the final time.
