Voters throughout the county will head to the polls Tuesday to vote on whether to approve school budgets and elect trustees to the school board. Several school districts have propositions on the ballot.
In East Ramapo, Mark Berkowitz and Alexandra Manigo are running for a three-year term. Incumbent Moshe Hopstein is not seeking a fourth term. Board Vice President Harry Grossman is seeking a second term and is being challenged by Eric Goodwin. Chevon Dos Reis is facing Joel Freilich for an open seat following the resignation of Joe Chajmovicz. The $232 million budget increases spending by 3.67 percent and increases the tax levy by 2.49 percent.
In South Orangetown, Board President Guy DeVincenzo faces Christine Lee and Ira Steinberg, while incumbent Lee Jacobs faces Scott Vanderhoef. The $89 million budget increases spending by 2.65 percent and increases the tax levy by 1.75 percent.
In Nyack, incumbents Leann Irving, Jennifer Marraccino and James Marshall are running for re-election, along with Beth Davidson and Michael Lockett. The $83 million budget increases spending by 2.96 percent and increases the tax levy 2.09 percent.
In Ramapo Central, Paul Shapiro, Thomas Donnelly and Darrell Frasier are running for two seats. The $137 million budget increases spending by two percent and increases the tax levy by 1.21 percent.
