North Rockland Downs John Jay In Sectional Championship Game Rematch

EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. - The defending sectional champion John Jay High girls soccer team rolled out the welcome mat Tuesday for North Rockland in a replay of last year's Class AA championship game.

North Rockland walked off with a small measure of revenge in the end, taking a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from Ashley Morales 10 minutes into the second half. Kelly Brady assisted on the score.

"I was very pleased with our team today," North Rockland coach Peter McGovern said. "We have a lot of young kids this year - freshmen and sophomores, and they did a phenomenal job - at John Jay, against a bigger, stronger team. I was very pleased with them."

North Rockland improved its season record to 2-0, while John Jay fell to 1-2-1.
