SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- Former Section 1 football standout Calvin Heurtelou, who starred at Spring Valley High School and Trinity-Pawling School, could find a new home in the fall as a member of the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos.

The defensive lineman, who played at the University of Miami, was among 21 free agents who signed with Denver. He will report with 30 other rookies on Friday to the team’s rookie camp.

Heurtelou, who stands 6-3 and weighs 315 pounds, started 12 of 13 games last fall for the Hurricanes. He played two years at the school after transferring from Scottsdale Community College. He starred at Spring Valley for coach Andrew Delva before playing for one year as a post-graduate Trinity-Pawling.

“To see where this kid came from as a player now living in the moment of going to a big time college program and now getting an opportunity of playing In the NFL.’’ Delva wrote on Facebook. “Just so proud to say I had the chance to coach this young man and a kid who comes from a small town and SVHS means a lot.”

Heurtelou, , who was coached by Andrew Delva at Spring Valley High School, spent a post-grad year at Trinity-Pawling School and a season at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona before arriving in Miami.

The heavily recruited Heurtelou chose Miami over Tennessee, Auburn, Nebraska, Missouri, Arizona State, Washington, Wisconsin and Rutgers.
