Joey Corbett, a midfielder who started for North Rockland's varsity team as an eighth-grader this past spring, has verbally committed to Maryland.

Corbett is the first Class of 2019 athlete from the Hudson Valley in any sport to give a college commitment and is believed to be the first-ever athlete in the proud history of North Rockland athletics to verbally commit as a ninth-grader.

Corbett registered 19 goals and 20 assists and earned all-league honors this past spring.

This past summer, playing for the Prime Time travel team, he was an all-star the IL Invitational Session 3 and also performed well as the NXT Showcase.

Corbett is also adept in the faceoff X, working under the tutelage of Greg Gurenlian of Faceoff Academy.
