South Salem Veterans Day Observance Features Free Breakfast

SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- South Salem will hold a two-day observance of Veterans Day starting Thursday at 2:15 p.m. when the John Jay for Veterans Club will host a flag placement ceremony on the front lawn at John Jay High School.

A free pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the South Salem Fire Department ( 1190 Route 35) is open to veterans, their caregivers, spouses and family members.

At 9:15 a.m., the Boy Scouts will place flags at the Lewisboro Town House lawn, followed by a 10:15 a.m. flag-placing ceremony among Boy and Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownies, and volunteers from the John Jay for Veterans Club. They will place 311 flags to represent and honor all the town's veterans.

A 11:11 a.m., a moment of silence will be observed.

All are invited to these observances. The flag ceremony site has ample parking, is handicapped-accessible, and there are restrooms.
