Rockland Youth Orchestra Begins Fifth Season, Rehearsals In Nanuet

NANUET, N.Y. -- The Rockland Youth Orchestra is planning its fifth season from March 9 to June 1 and will hold its rehearsals at Highland Elementary School in Nanuet.

The season will feature rehearsals on Wednesdays from 7:30-9 p.m. 

The Rockland Youth Orchestra will culminate season five in a public concert with a time, day, date and location to be announced. 

RYO is open to students who have performed solos for the New York State School Music Association. 

Scores involving 26 out of 28 points on solo levels III and IV or scores of 95 out of 100 points on solo levels V and VI guarantee admission into the ensemble. 

Students who have not done solos for NYSSMA may become members of Rockland Youth Orchestra with the permission of its directors. 

Literature to be rehearsed and performed by RYO during season five includes works by Peter Warlock, Deborah Baker Monday, Bert Ligon and Coldplay. 

The Rockand Youth Orchestra is a nonprofit organization as recognized by New York state.

Tuition for the season five is $160. Sibling discounts, half scholarships and full scholarships are available for qualified applicants.
