Person Killed, Hundreds Burned As 1.5M Hand Warmers Recalled
More than 1 million rechargeable hand warmers are being recalled after hundreds of people suffered burns and one person died. OCOOPA Direct recalled about 1.5 million of its hand warmers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, July 30. The lithium-ion batteries can overheat and ignite, creating a risk of serious injury or death from fires and burns. The CPSC said it's aware of 1,480 reports of the hand warmers overheating.
