WEST NYACK, N.Y. -- The nonprofit organization Kosher Troops held a live lighting of the menorah at the Palisades Center in West Nyack that was broadcast to U.S. troops around the world. It was the first time such an event was held in Rockland County, Westchester News 12 said.

Using an online link, troops were able to watch menorah lightings in West Nyack, Hawaii, Seattle, Missouri and even Cuba, Westchester News 12 said.

Along with the lighting of the fourth candle on the menorah, children were able to take part in letter-writing to troops, Westchester News 12 said.
