Workers recently began installing the 192 cables that will attach the main deck to several 40-foot towers, The New York Times reported.
Despite setbacks, such as the toppling of a construction crane last month, engineers for the state Thruway Authority said the first section should open in late 2017 and the second section sometime the following year, The New York Times reported.
