The festive event brought together Rockland County Executive Ed Day with fellow elected officials and local Jewish leaders. Together they lit four candles for the first four nights of Hanukkah, which began on Dec. 6.

"Hanukkah is not just a time we celebrate miracles, we celebrate hope," Day said. The gathering was immediately preceded by the dedication of the crèche, demonstrating the diversity and freedom of religion that serve to unite us as a community.
