The plan, devised in conjunction with state Public Service Commission staff, would increase rates as follows: 5.9 percent in year one; 5.6 percent in year two; and 5.3 percent in year three, said lohud.com.
The increases are lower than initially proposed, which was 13 percent in a single year, said the lohud.com report.
The additional cost, on average, would be $2.67 on a customer's monthly bill, said lohud.com, citing Suez Water New York.
Originally, the proposed increase would have meant customer pay $8.17 more monthly, according to the lohud.com report.
The company has proposed the increases to recover expenses from Suez's failed desalination plant, lohud.com said.
About 300,000 Rockland residents are served by Suez, said lohud.com.
