Augustus Cardello of Westport was 19.

Police have ruled out foul play and the Providence Police Department said the death does not appear suspicious, but no cause of death has been given, the Providence Journal reported.

Cardello graduated from Staples High School in 2017.

Providence College canceled its men's and women's basketball "Late Night Madness Celebration" marking the start of official preseason practices for its Big East programs that had been scheduled for Saturday night out of respect for Cardello's family.

"I ask everyone in our campus community to please keep Augustus and his family in your prayers," Providence College Acting President Rev. Kenneth Sicard said.

The college held a special mass at St. Dominic Chapel, and then a gathering in the chapel's lower level Campus Ministry Center, on Friday.

Funeral services have not yet been announced.
