George A. O'Shea, 75, West Nyack Resident

WEST NYACK, N.Y. – George A. O'Shea, of West Nyack, died Wednesday, March 24. He was 75.

He was born in Nyack on July 19, 1940, to Timothy and Catherine O'Shea. He enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 17 and served in the 82nd Airborne. He was a member of the Clarkstown Police Department for over 28 years and retired at the rank of lieutenant. He was an active member of the Blauvelt Knights of Columbus and the Piermont Police Athletic League activities committee. He loved to spend time with his family and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Elfriede O'Shea; sisters, Maryann Hurst and Margaret O'Shea; and niece, Mary Hurst.

He is survived by two sons, Michael and Janet O'Shea, Pat and Siobahn O'Shea; three daughters, Marion and Rick Riley, Theresa and Dave Broadhurst, and Rosie and Gille Obermeyer; brother, Timothy, and his wife, Marie O'Shea; grandchildren Doug Adams, Theresa Adams, Anthony O'Shea, Michael O'Shea, Cara O'Shea, Kailey O'Shea, Riley O'Shea, Patrick O'Shea, Amanda Broadhurst, Jennifer Broadhurst, Dave Broadhurst and Michael Riley; nephew, Tim O'Shea; and nieces Nancy and Marie O'Shea.

Visiting hours are scheduled for Monday, March 28, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc., 88 S. Broadway, Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Nyack, with burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nyack.
