John Bachleda, 94, Of Nanuet

NANUET, N.Y. -- John Bachleda, 94, of Nanuet, 94, died Saturday, Nov. 14 at home. Bachelda was a Nanuet resident for 62 years. He was born in Zdiar Czechoslovakia to Anton and Maria (Oleksakova) Bachleda.

Bachleda worked in food services as a supervisor and manager for American Cyanamid in Pearl River. He was with the company for 31 years before retiring in 1986. The cafeteria, JB’s, was named after him.

Bachleda served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45, attaining the rank of master sergeant and earning multiple Bronze Stars. He also served in the National Guard for 18 years, retiring in 1966.

On Nov. 23, 1941, he married Mary Gasparik in New York City. 

He is survived by his children: John of Saratoga, Michael of Scotia, James of Catalina, Ariz. and Mary Haight of Summit.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aedan’s R. C. Church in Pearl River. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet.
