Benjamin Bojemski, who works at the Shames Jewish Community Center in Tarrytown, was arrested last week and charged in the Town of Greenburgh Court with possession and distribution of child pornography, officials announced on Friday.

Bojemski was a counselor at the River Friends Cay Day Camp. He is also facing additional charges in Sleepy Hollow and Croton-on-Hudson.

Since his arrest, officials in the Shames Jewish Community have stated that they do their due diligence before hiring employees. Background checks were conducted on Bojemski twice before he was hired this year and last.

"We take our responsibility to our members and community very seriously; in particular as a provider of services to children," Shames Jewish Community Center officials said in a statement. "Creating safe and secure environment is at the core of our mission and values as an agency."
