Clarkstown Residents Alerted About New IRS Scam

CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Dispatchers for the Clarkstown Police Department have been getting calls from a number of residents about receiving automated phone messages stating that they are being sued by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

Officials expect the new Verizon cell tower will be operational in a few months.

The messages request that you call a number back to provide more information.

Clarkstown Police advise residents not to call this number and give out any information.

"We are aware of the scam and have contacted the IRS about these robo calls," said a representative from the Clarkstown Police Department in a statement. "There is no need to call the Police Department if you receive one of these calls."
