Convicted 'Serial Groper' From New Rochelle Lives In Rockland

A serial groper that allegedly victimized multiple New Rochelle women in 2014 has registered as a sex offender living in Orangeburg, according to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

On four separate occasions over a near two-week span in June 2014, New Rochelle native Guillermo Merino, 41, grabbed the buttocks of various women without consent or purpose while walking through the city, according to authorities.

Merino ultimately pleaded guilty to a pair of felonies - including failure to disclose he is a sex offender - and was sentenced to 30 months in state prison. He was also charged with forcible touching in 2007.

The Old Orangeburg Road resident is currently out on parole, under the supervision of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Merino as a level three threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He is designated as a sexually violent offender and predicate sex offender.
