The IRS or other government agencies don't threaten people over the telephone and police warn people to be suspicious of telephone calls and emails demanding personal information, according to lohud.com.
A 32-year-old man was the latest victim after he answered a call on Friday that came across as “1911" and was told by a man with an American accent that the IRS would arrest him if he didn't pay $2,000 owed the federal government.
Residents who get telephone calls can call the Clarkstown Police Department at 845-639-5800, according to lohud.com.
