Police Seek Clues On Bullet Holes In Car, House, Attempted Ramapo Break-In

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police on Sunday evening around 8:50 p.m. responded to reports of gun shots heard on Hempstead Road in Hillcrest.

Officers found an unoccupied vehicle parked on Hempstead Road with several large caliber bullet holes. Additionally, a single bullet entered a residence on Hempstead Road, through a window, and lodged in a stone fireplace. Officers secured a crime scene and checked the welfare of the residents at this location. There were no injuries.

Several minutes later a caller from Elliot Place, which is in the same area, reported an attempted forced entry into the residence. The caller stated the front door was kicked in but no one entered the residence.

Ramapo Detectives and Rockland Co. BCI responded to both locations and are investigating the crime scenes. At this point it is unknown if the crimes are related.
