A 28-year-old Rockland County man was busted by police for drinking and driving after being spooked by the presence of a Ramapo police officer on Thursday morning.

A patrol officer reported that he observed a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business in Hillcrest. Upon pulling into the parking lot, the officer said that the driver proceeded to abruptly pull away from the building, prompting a traffic stop.

During the initial phase of the stop, police said that the officer immediately recognized the driver to be under the influence of alcohol, leading to his arrest for driving while intoxicated. The driver, who is from Spring Valley, is being processed at Ramapo Police Department. His name has not yet been released pending arraignment.
