ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Part of West Central Avenue in Monsey is shut down due to a gas line break by contractors performing work in the area, according to the Ramapo Police.

The break occurred around 11:33 a.m. Wednesday at 524 W. Central Ave., police said at noontime.

The fire department is on the scene, and drivers are asked to avoid the area until the break can be repaired.
