Rockland Woman Charged In Assault; Punched Other Woman In Face, Police Say

ORANGETOWN N.Y. -- Orangetown police have arrested a 57-year-old resident of Tappan on an assault charge, authorities said.

The arrest came about when police responded to the report of a possible dispute taking place at a residence in Tappan on Thursday, around 7:46 p.m., according to police.

The suspect, identified as Phyllis Pelio, struck a woman during an argument, causing numerous lacerations to her face, police said.

Pelio was taken into custody and transported to Orangetown Police Headquarters. She has been charged with assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor, according to police.

After processing, the defendant was arraigned and released, police said.

She is due back in Orangetown Justice Court on Tuesday, Dec. 6, according to police.
