Ramapo police responded to the incident around 10:14 a.m. on North Main Street in Hillcrest where they found a woman with a large welt on the side of the head along with scratches on her back and arms, police said.

The woman told police she was attacked by another female because the suspect believed the woman had contacted her old boyfriend, police said.

The unidentified 30-year-old had fled the scene before police arrived. Following an investigation, officers were able to locate the woman a short time later and she was arrested, police said.

She was arraigned in Ramapo Court and released pending a future court date. The victim was treated at an area hospital for her injuries.
