Steven Edmondson, 28, and Christopher Lopes, 27, were convicted of several violent felonies by a jury, dating back to an incident in October 2016, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Wednesday.
There was a minor incident involving two cars, including one driven by Edmondson, at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016.
When the second motorist pulled over to exchange drivers’ information, he was threatened by the four men in Edmondson's car. When he attempted to drive away out of fear, he subsequently crashed into a pair of parked cars.
When the driver crashed, Edmondson, Lopes and the other two men pulled him out of his car and “severely beat him,” Scarpino said. He was left with life-threatening injuries to his face and neck. They also stole his wallet, which had approximately $1,500 in cash. Edmondson and Lopes were arrested at the scene by members of the Yonkers Police Department.
Edmondson and Lopes were convicted of assault, robbery, gang assault and robbery, all violent felonies. They are scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 26, when Lopes will serve a term between eight and 25 years, while Edmondson faces a term of five to 25 years in prison.
