Police: Vet, 81, Held Captive In Hudson Valley Motel Five Years

HIGHLAND FALLS, N.Y. -- A man who allegedly held an 81-year-old veteran captive in a Highland Falls motel for five years was arrested Wednesday after a motel resident turned a video over to police.

Perry Coniglio, 43, was arrested at the U.S. Academy Motel at 41 Main St., according to HVNN.com. Police say Coniglio held David McClellan, a Korean War-era Navy corpsman, at the motel and stole Social Security benefits and proceeds from a vehicle, which was sold without the prisoner's consent.

Coniglio faces charges of unlawful imprisonment, grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, endangering an incompetent person, menacing and unlawful possession of marijuana. Police are pursuing leads about other individuals who may have been involved in the alleged crimes. Click here for the HVNN report.
