Three New Members Join Rockland County Legislature

NEW CITY, N.Y. – Three new county legislators took their seats on the Rockland County Legislature after being sworn in Tuesday.

Legislators Laurie Santulli of Congers, Charles J. Falciglia of Suffern and Vincent D. Tyer III of Pearl River joined 14 returning legislators.

Santulli represents District 11, which covers Congers and part of New City. She grew up in New City, graduated from Clarkstown South High School and earned a master’s degree in education, specializing in special education, from Long Island University. An East Ramapo Central School District teacher, she currently works at Spring Valley High School, where she teaches social studies.

Santulli has been a volunteer firefighter since 1995, where she became the first female member of the New City Fire Department. She then joined the Congers Fire Department. Santulli and her husband, Dominic, are parents of two sons, Tommy and JD.

Falciglia represents District 12, which covers Airmont, Hillburn and part of Suffern. He graduated from Suffern High School and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Farleigh Dickinson University. He is a former Suffern village trustee who has worked in the banking profession for 37 years, and is currently the Bank Secrecy Act Officer for the United States branches of an international bank.

Falciglia is a certified anti-money laundering specialist. He and his wife, Rita, are parents of two grown daughters, Amanda and Stephanie.

Tyer represents District 16, which covers parts of Pearl River, Blauvelt and Tappan. He is a Boston native who moved to Rockland County in 1991, and has lived in Pearl River since 2004. He graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and received a master's of business administration from the Stern School of Business at New York University. He is president and chief executive officer of Taconic Builders Inc.

Tyer is an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and has been a bagpiper with its Pipe Band for more than 10 years. He and his wife, Jennifer Conlon, are parents of daughters Caitlin, Kerry and Casey.
