Nearly 1,200 high school students between the ages of 18 and 18 have qualified from seven countries -- including five high schools in the Hudson Valley.

Other local teams competing next week are: Carmel High School, Clarkstown North High School, Ossining High School and Yonkers High School.

The Hudson Valley regional tournament takes place from March 24 though 26.

Led by FRC Mentor and New Rochelle High School librarian Ryan Paulsen, the New Ro-Bots will compete to win a place in the FIRST® Robotics World Competition, taking place in St. Louis on April 26-29. Winners of this prestigious international competition receive recognition and opportunities associated with their engineering skills and achievements, including coveted internships and job opportunities with organizations, such as NASA and SpaceX.

“Engaging young people in fun, hands-on, project-oriented teams to build robots can open their eyes to educational and career opportunities never otherwise dreamed of,” Paulsen said. “It’s incredible to work with these kids, because it’s evident that they all have amazing opportunities ahead of them."

The community is encouraged to attend this free event at Rockland Community College on March 24 – 26. For more information, click here.
