Opera Singer Profiled In NY Times To Perform In New Rochelle NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Opera singer Alejandro Olmeda will be one of the performers at the New Rochelle Opera concert on Wednesday, July 20.  The New York Times recently profiled Olmeda, who manages a Chinese restaurant in Manhattan's Koreatown.  The performance is part of the New Rochelle Council on the Arts' Summer Sounds Concert Series, which takes place every Wednesday night at the Hudson Park band shell at 7:30 p.m.  Each concert in the series features a different genre of music.  Click here to read The New York Times' profile of Olmeda.

Brookfield Police Department Thanks Public Works Department BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- The Brookfield Police Department posted a note of thanks on Facebook to the Public Works Department for recent work. The Brookfield Public Works Department worked yesterday to clean the ventilation pit and unclog its drainage.  They also constructed a foundation drain to prevent the regular flooding that occurs in the building's downstairs during heavy rains.  Click here for the full note and additional photos.

Stratford Town Council Rejects Proposed Dog Park Location STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Stratford Town Council rejected the Park and Recreation Committee's plan to use the vacant lot behind the Birdseye Street waste treatment plant as a dog park, according to Connecticut Post.  The council rejected the committee's recommendation since Animal Control Officer Rachel Solviera was not consulted, Connecticut Post said.
