Rockland Bike Thief Nabbed Thanks To Help From Community Patrol MONSEY, N.Y. - A 17-year-old Spring Valley resident was arrested for allegedly stealing bicycles in Monsey on Sunday with the help of a community patrol, police said. The male suspect was arrested around 3 p.m. and charged with four counts of petit larceny. He allegedly stole four bicycles from a backyard in the area of West Central Avenue and North Gate. The arrest was made with the assistance of the Chaverim Volunteer Community Patrol. The patrol located and "engaged" the suspect ahead of the police response, according to police. Rockland Legislature Seeks Access Ban For Electronic Police Convos The Rockland County Legislature wants to criminalize interception of electronic communications to and from law enforcement officials by civilians due to claims that town officials in Clarkstown can access these emails, the Legislature announced in a press release. A resolution that seeks to criminalize the interception of these communications was introduced to the County Legislature on Monday.
