Yonkers Police Look Into School District Computer Use
YONKERS, N.Y. -- Following the abrupt resignation of Yonkers Superintendent Michael Yazurlo, who cited health reasons, Yonkers police officers are looking into the district's computers and cable use, According to lohud. Mount Pleasant Police Target Drag Racing After Injuries To Officers
MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- The Mount Pleasant Police Department is putting drag racing on the top of the priority list after two officers were injured while investigating a race earlier this month, according to a report in LoHud.com. The two officers tried to question a driver who was participating in the race, and when he took off during the questioning, the driver dragged them along, LoHud reported. WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - The nonprofit organizations of both Nonprofit Westchester and County Coalitions have joined forces to launch a new campaign, #KeepWestchesterThriving, to urge the county to restore cuts in the proposed 2016 budget. Mahwah Begins Two-Phase Water Well Renovation
MAHWAH, N.J. - By next spring, one of Mahwah's most productive water wells will undergo a nearly $100,000 refurbishment project. The Township Council approved $95,000 for the project at a meeting on Nov. 12, North Jersey.com reported. Weston Celebrates Opening Of 'Bridge In A Backpack'
WESTON, Conn. - Local and state lawmakers came together for the recent grand opening of the new bridge on Route 57 in Weston, the first “Bridge in a Backpack." The State Department of Transportation received a federal innovation grant to use “Bridge-in-a-Backpack,” a technique that allows bridges to be built in weeks instead of months. NORWALK, Conn. – From Santa Claus to special IMAX screenings and the annual Lighthouse Exhibit, the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk will be filled with holiday cheer throughout December. Most Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays in December, visitors can catch a glimpse of Santa Claus swimming with the sharks, helping the aquarium’s dive team in a demonstration that sharks aren’t the blood-thirsty killers of myth. Wilton Fire Department Fills Officer Ranks With Promotions
WILTON, Conn. - In a ceremony Thursday, the Wilton Fire Department promoted four officers through the ranks, in order to fill key positions in the department, the Wilton Bulletin reported. Lt. Brian Elliott and Lt. Jim Blanchfield were promoted to captain and firefighters William Sampson and William Wilson were named lieutenants, the story said. Hunting Season Opens In New York, But There Are Fewer Hunters
New York sporting goods store owners are hoping that the number of deer hunters grow this season, after the numbers have fallen over the past decade. According to Time Warner Cable News, over the past decade, the number of hunters has fallen, going from roughly 550,000 in state hunters in 2002 to around 483,000 in 2012, with the numbers of out of state hunters decreasing as well. Orange County Sheriff's Office Makes Big Heroin, Weapons Raid
PORT JERVIS, N.Y. - Following a month-long investigation, the Orange County Sheriff's Department along with other local law enforcement agencies shut down a drug ring in the area. Police arrested six individuals that were allegedly involved in the drug ring, selling primarily heroin, crack cocaine and firearms, between Oct. 25 and Nov. 17, the Mid-Hudson News reported.
