The US Coast Guard rescued an 86-year-old sailor and his dog Wednesday, Oct. 28, about 460 miles off San Diego, California, after the pair had gone without contact for more than two months. The sailor had been aboard the sailing vessel Willow Wind, traveling from Astoria, Oregon, to Pago Pago, American Samoa.
