Marine Units Continue Search For Possible Bear Mountain Bridge Jumper New York State police, along with several law enforcement agencies, continued searching Tuesday for a person who reportedly jumped from the Bear Mountain Bridge on Monday afternoon. The search for the person began after state police received several witness reports of a person jumping from the bridge around 1:45 p.m. Monday, said Trooper A.J. Hicks. Firefighters Battle Tappan Zee Bridge Blaze From Land, Water A fire on the wooden pylons under the old Tappan Zee Bridge had firefighters battling the blaze from the land and water early Tuesday, according to the New York State Police. Firefighters and state police were notified of the fire around 5:25 a.m., said Trooper Michael Cassella.  Once on scene, they discovered some pylons under the old bridge had caught fire. Firefighters used fire boats to attack the blaze from the Hudson River and other worked from the deck of the bridge, Cassella said. The flames were extinguished shortly before 6:30 a.m. and traffic is now flowing freely.

One Extricated After Head-On Crash In Fishkill One person had to be extricated following a head-on crash on Route 9 around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to Village of Fishkill Police.The crash, which is still under investigation, occurred on Route 9 at Church Street, said Fishkill Police Commissioner Glenn Scofield.  One person was extricated and transported to a local hospital for treatment, he added. Search Underway For Possible Bear Mountain Bridge Jumper After receiving several witness reports of a person jumping from Bear Mountain Bridge, authorities are searching the waters in the area near the bridge, according to state police.  The calls were received beginning around 1:45 p.m., Monday, said Trooper A.J. Hicks. Currently, marine units are searching for the unidentified person, he said.  Officials will review bridge video surveillance tapes to confirm the jump.  This is a developing story.
